2025 New Hours Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Why are you changing the hours?
We have two goals in mind:
- We wanted to reopen Harris on Wednesday and Bittersweet on Friday.
- We wanted to provide more consistency in our hours.
- We looked at our door counts and adjusted our hours to when patrons really use the library.
Why are you closing at 7 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.?
- There is a large decline in patron traffic after 6 p.m. at all locations. We are putting those hours towards more popular times for our patrons.
Why are you only open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday?
- Friday and Saturdays are traditionally very slow. We are putting those hours towards more popular times for our patrons.
Will this change affect the availability of library programs?
- Changes will be minimal. This lets us offer more programming at Harris and Bittersweet.
Are these hours permanent?
- Yes, these are our new hours.
What are some benefits of the new hours?
Here are just a few of our favorites:
- Have a hold ready for pick-up at Harris on a Wednesday? No more waiting until Thursday to get your hands on your next great read!
- Need to pick your teen up but you can’t remember if we close at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. or 8 p.m.? No worries! All locations close at 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
- Are you an early weekend riser? Mishawaka’s now open an hour earlier at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Stop by for a visit and then go out and enjoy the rest of your weekend plans!
