MPHPL Is Part of the Indiana Library Passport Program
The Indiana Library Passport (ILP) is a free, mobile-friendly literacy program that enters library visitors into prize drawings when they use the program’s geo-location check-in service.
The program is sponsored by the Indiana State Library and encourages people to visit Indiana libraries and learn historical facts about libraries across the state.
The People Next Door – Witnessing the Holocaust
The Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library is honored to host the exhibition for this year’s The People Next Door student art and creative writing contest. This annual contest provides Michiana high school students an opportunity to hear the stories of Michiana’s own Holocaust survivors, then creatively respond to their experiences in an original work of art or creative writing.
All MPHPL Locations Are National Safe Place Stations
The Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library is proud that all of our library locations are Youth Service Bureau (YSB) of St. Joseph County Safe Stations! Currently there are 22,097 Safe Place Stations across the country.

Now is the time to get get the Libby app! April 2023, the OverDrive app will be discontinued. MPHPL encourages you to make the switch to Libby, our newer reading app immediately. Libby is made by the same company, with the same goal of connecting you to our library and to your favorite eBooks, eAudiobooks and magazines.
MPHPL 2023 Local Youth Author Fair
Calling all Michiana Youth Authors! The Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library is looking for Michiana authors to participate in the upcoming Youth Local Author Fair. The event is designed to give youth writers and readers in the area an opportunity to connect.
2023 Free Tax Assistance at Mishawaka Library
Individuals and families with an annual household income of $64,000 or less can file for free through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, sponsored by Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. The program is a grant-based IRS initiative designed to support free tax preparation service for the underserved through various partner organizations.
2023 – New Year, New Youth Cards
Adults may now choose between Child, Teen or Unlimited access when registering their minor for a Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library card. Current MPHPL cardholders may visit the library to review or change their minor’s access level at any time.
