The Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library, in partnership with the City of Mishawaka’s Park and Recreation Department, is excited to announce that Mishawaka native Devin Cannady, a professional basketball player and first-time author, will be at the downtown Mishawaka Library on Friday, Aug. 2, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for a special storytime.
Cannady will read his self-published book Aliya Can, which he wrote for his soon-to-be 1-year-old daughter, Aliya Cannady, born Aug. 4, 2023.
The illustrated children’s book is for anyone who wants a child to believe they can achieve anything they want! Inspired by Cannady, a first-time father, the star of the book is a young girl named Aliya who finds her confidence by believing that she can do anything!
Everyone is welcome to attend this special event and no registration is required. After storytime, Cannady will sign copies of his book. Each family in attendance will receive a free autographed copy.
Cannady graduated from Marian High School in 2015, where he played basketball for all four years. He then played college basketball at Princeton University, where he earned a sociology degree. Cannady’s resume includes playing for several professional teams, including the Orlando Magic and the Birmingham Squadron.
