How do I apply for a library card?
See if you are eligible for a MPHPL card by visiting the Get a Card page. For residents that are fans of digital materials only, sign up and receive a digital card without even visiting the library!
How do I log in to my library account?
To log into your account, head to our catalog and click “My Account” at the top. Enter your library card number and your password (PIN) and click Log In. From here you can review your account or renew your material.
How can I renew items?
MPHPL offers auto-renewal on our physical materials, except for DVDs. Books, audiobooks, magazines and music CDs will automatically renew up to three times as long as another patron does not have a hold on the item. Items on hold for another patron must be returned by the due date.
If you wish to renew your items early, you can manually renew by going into your account.
How can I place items on hold from home?
Head to our catalog and click “My Account” at the top to login. Search for the item you want and click on the format. You’ll be taken to a page where you can view the book cover, title and availability. On the right-hand side of the screen, click “Place Hold.” You may also place holds using the MPHPL app.
How long can I keep books, DVDs and other items?
The loan period for books, audiobooks, magazines, music CDs, non-fiction DVDs and TV series on DVD is 21 days.
The loan period for new release and entertainment DVDs is 7 days.
Are there late fees for overdue materials?
Items that are eligible for holds and are not placed on hold by another patron will auto renew up to three times. If materials are not returned by the due date, the late fee is 25 cents per day for everything except for new release DVDs, which incur a $1.00 per day late fee.
Does the library accept credit cards for payment?
All locations accept credit card payments. You can also pay fines online via credit card by visiting our catalog and logging into your account.
What if the library does not have a title I’m looking for?
Visit our catalog and log in to your account. At the top of the screen click “Send a Request” to submit a Request to Order.
Can I return my items to any library in the area?
Items checked out at any Mishawaka-Penn-Harris Public Library location can be returned to any other MPHPL location. Visit our Locations & Hours page for directions. Items should not be returned to a SJCPL location.
Can someone else pick up my hold items?
The service desk will be able to assist you in designating an individual who you authorize to pick up your hold items if you are unable to do so.
I can't remember my PIN. Can you give it to me?
Call us at (574) 259-5277 or visit any MPHPL location for assistance in resetting your PIN.
Does my library card expire?
Resident library cards do not expire, but will be purged after three years of inactivity. For more information visit our Get a Card page.
What should I do if I lose my card?
Call us at (574) 259-5277 to report the loss of the card to the library.
How do I download eBooks, audiobooks or music?
Visit our Digital Collections page to learn more about our apps and to download the app of your choice. Apps require you to put in your library card number and PIN.

Does the library have tax forms?
The library receives a small number of the most popular tax forms each year. To supplement the reduced quantity of forms we receive annually, the Adult Services desk at every MPHPL location puts together a binder with a larger variety of tax forms. Patrons are able to photocopy the forms available in the binder. Please note that we are unable to provide tax advice, including what forms you may need.

How do I sign up for library programs?
Visit our Events calendar for a full list of upcoming events. To register for a program, click on the program and fill out the registration form. If a program is full, you will be placed on the waitlist. You will receive email confirmation after submitting the form.
Do you have book sales?
Our book sale is available exclusively at the downtown Mishawaka Library during operating hours. Call or visit for pricing.
